The 4th Trimester Diaries: Month Three

Coming to the end of The 4th Trimester doesn’t mean things miraculously get easier, but in comparison to those early newborn days, I noticed a stark difference.

This last month finally started to resemble something like normal life again, albeit a whole new normal, paired with a lot of sleepless nights still but lots of lovely smiles as well, to make things just that little bit easier when you're feeling absolutely shattered.
My favourite thing about this final month of the 4th trimester, was returning back to a more regular exercise routine, and with little Lexi on the mat next to smiling away, it’s been so enjoyable coming back to regular classes, and feeling stronger each week.
As a yoga teacher this may be a little controversial to say, but I am fully in my Pilates era right now, and have loved going to the Wednesday afternoon pilates classes at GoodGood Yoga, building strength slowly and safely in a low impact way, and by going each week it’s really allowed me to notice how much stronger, and better, I feel with each session.
Another exercise favourite, and something very new, is the Sunday morning Easy Spin class at RHStudios. In the early Newborn and Netflix days I watched Apple Cider Vinegar, and in it one of the characters called Chanelle is regularly seen at a spin class, at the time this felt like a million miles away for me but I desperately wanted to go to one (despite never liking spin up until this point). So finally being on a bike, at a slower paced, 30 minute spin class felt like a real “I’ve made it” moment, and has become a weekly staple.
I also started to slowly return to a few work projects, teaching a couple classes nearby and planning a few workshops and retreats, something I felt pressure to do over the last 2 months for no reason at all, which taking a break from social media in April really helped, creating the headspace I needed to return feeling excited and motivation, with some really fabulous projects underway.
